National Registration & National Accreditation   20/05/2008
On 26 March 2008 the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) signed an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) for a National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for the Health Professions.

Professional Indemnity Insurance   12/02/2008
At its meeting on 6 February 2008 the Board increased the required level of professional indemnity insurance to $10million for any one claim.

Code of Conduct   AND   Section 65 Report Committee   AND   Christmas Closure   17/12/2007
At its meeting on 5 December 2007 the Board adopted the new Code of Professional Conduct & Practice.
The Board has formed a Section 65 Report Committee to consider information received from practitioners in accordance with the requirements of Section 65 of the Act.
The office of the Board will close at 12noon on Friday 21 December 2007 and re-open on Wednesday 2 January 2008.

Renewal of Registration   23/10/2007
Applications for Renewal of Registration were posted to the profession on 22 October 2007, together with the Board's Annual Newsletter.

Draft Code of Professional Conduct & Practice   12/06/2007
The draft Code was forwarded to the Minister for Health for approval on 12 June 2007.

Draft Ongoing Competency Model   05/04/2007
Second Draft Ongoing Competency Model has been prepared and comments are sought from the profession.

Reminder - Patients' Right of Access to Records   09/03/2007
Reminder regarding practitioners' responsibilities under the Federal Privacy Act and the National Privacy Principles.

National Registration & Accreditation Schemes   10/01/2007
Details of the COAG proposal for a Single National Registration Scheme and a Single National Accreditation Scheme.

Board Committees   AND   Christmas Closure   7/12/2006
Submissions have now closed on the Draft Code of Professional Conduct & Practice and the Draft Ongoing Competency Model - committees have been formed to review submissions/responses received.
The office of the Board will be closed from 12noon on Friday 22 December 2006 and will re-open on Tuesday 2 January 2007.

Chiropractic & Osteopathy Practice Act 2005   10/08/2006
On 27 July 2006, the Chiropractic & Osteopathy Practice Act 2005 was proclaimed, the General Regulations were gazetted and the new Board was appointed.

Elections under the new Act   08/05/2006
The Chiropractic & Osteopathy Practice (Election) Regulations 2006 were gazetted on 4 May 2006 and the election process for members to the new Board is now able to commence.

DRAFT POLICY - Assistants in Chiropractic or Osteopathy Practice   07/03/2006
The Board has revised its DRAFT policy regarding assistants and is seeking comments from the profession by Friday 7 April 2006.

Business Names   24/01/2006
The Board wishes to remind all registered chiropractors and osteopaths of the requirements of Regulation 19 under the Chiropractors Act 1991.

The Health & Community Services Complaints Act was proclaimed on 3 October 2005.

Renewal of Registration AND Code of Conduct - Care Plans   18/10/2005
Applications for Renewal of Registration, together with the Board's Annual Newsletter, were recently posted to the profession.
The Code of Professional Conduct & Practice has recently been revised to include a new section on Care Plans (including an example Care Plan as Appendix II).

Code of Conduct - Advertising AND Draft Policy on Assistants   08/09/2005
The Board has recently amended its Code of Conduct with regard to 'testimonial' advertising.
The Board has drafted a policy with regard to chiropractic or osteopathy assistants - comments sought from the profession.

The Chiropractic & Osteopathy Practice Act 2005 was assented to on 14 July 2005.

Notice to the Public   21/06/2005
Due to the number of complaints received by the Board from members of the public about pay in advance contracted treatment plans, the Board recently placed a Notice to the Public in The Advertiser newspaper.

Health & Community Services Complaints Commissioner   03/05/2005
The Health & Community Services Complaints Act successfully passed through Parliament and was assented to on 8 July 2004, and the H&CS Commissioner has been appointed.

Code of Professional Conduct & Practice   11/03/2005
Review of the Code of Professional Conduct & Practice has now been completed, and the new Code was adopted by the Board on 2 March 2005 and circulated to the profession on 11 March 2005.

Nominated Email Address   11/01/2005
The Board has recently updated its Register database to include a new email facility.

Christmas/New Year Closure   13/12/2004
The Board's office will close at 12noon on Friday 24 December 2004, and re-open at 9.00am on Tuesday 4 January 2005.
