Professional Indemnity Insurance

At its meeting on 6 February 2008 the Board resolved to increase the required level of professional indemnity insurance for registered chiropractors, registered osteopaths and chiropractic & osteopathy service providers.

All persons applying for registration or re-registration as a chiropractor or osteopath in South Australia will now be required to provide evidence that they hold professional indemnity insurance at a minimum level of $10million for any one claim (previously $5million).

In addition, all registrants who hold less than the new minimum level of cover of $10million are required to upgrade their cover at their next renewal date of insurance with the insurance company. The Board will require evidence of PII cover from registrants at the next renewal of registration period in October/November 2008.
